Hasan Harnett: Bad choices for Democrats
Following the last Democratic debate, you ran the column “For Democrats, evolution or revolution,” which contrasted the positions taken by Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders.
While the writer might have deemed the choice for Democrats as one of evolution or revolution, the reality is the choice comes down to a reckless politician or a socialist.
Recently it was revealed Clinton stored some of the “government’s most secretive and highly classified programs” on her secret server (“Official: Some Clinton emails beyond top secret,” Jan. 20 news brief). This, only a week after reports that the investigation into her private email use was expanding to evaluate whether public corruption laws were violated.
A calculating politician, Clinton failed to protect our country’s most sensitive intelligence for her own selfish convenience. Her cavalier and reckless handling of our national security is reason enough to prove she lacks the judgment needed to lead the country.
As both candidates race as far to the left as possible ahead of the early caucus and primary contests, Democrats will have quite the choice to make – though hardly one of evolution or revolution.
