Lee S. Downie: Back to drawing board

Regarding the Feb. 6 news article “Federal court invalidates maps of 2 N.C. districts”: I am wildly angry that the N.C. General Assembly has given us two congressional districts that won’t pass muster in federal court. As a result, I am disenfranchised at this moment.

Sen. Bob Rucho and Rep. David Lewis called the court’s decision “disruptive.” Oy vey. One didn’t need a doctorate in political science, geography or demography to recognize from Day One that those two districts were drawn out of fear and vindictiveness.

Now the court has called the GOP’s hand and said, “Do it again ... you have two weeks.” So, get at it, gents, and get it right or go home.
