Stephen Bowman: No professor shortage

I read with great interest the Feb. 4 news article “Rolls fall at UNC teacher prep programs” about the decline in enrollments at the UNC system for teachers education.

Since enrollment in those courses has declined as much as 66 percent at one branch of the UNC system, how many professors or adjuncts in those departments have been let go or “released” since they are no longer necessary? I’d bet a paycheck none has been released, and they all are either still milking an unneeded position or were moved to another job where they were “needed.”

Remember that Ronald Reagan said, “The closest thing to immortality on earth is a government job.”
