Marvin Maddox: Drug testing a waste of money
Regarding the Feb. 10 news article “NC begins drug tests for welfare applicants”: I noted from the article on drug tests for welfare recipients: 21 positive results from 7,600 applicants, 12 of whom were then approved for reduced payment because children were involved, and the other nine withdrawn or disqualified for other reasons. Amazing!
Another General Assembly search for a solution to a nonexistent problem. I wonder how many hours our state employees spent on this screening program.
This effort is similar to the search for nonexistent voter fraud. Perhaps the General Assembly should spend more time solving real problems.
