Glenn M. Bloodworth: No special delivery

Regarding the Feb. 8 Science article “People problems with delivery drones”: They could not possibly be worse than my recent experience with UPS.

While I was hospitalized recently for a knee joint replacement, my insurance company sent a “care package” of frozen meals to my residence via UPS. The package, in spite of being clearly marked “Perishable – Keep Frozen” on all sides, was dumped in the rear of my garage. No attempt was made to notify my wife or daughter, who were both at home the entire duration of my hospital stay.

Needless to say, when we found the package two weeks later, the contents were rotten! So much for customer service.
