Carol J. Alverson: Conservative education
I moved to North Carolina about three years ago, and I must say that living here has been an educational experience.
I have learned a few things about politics:
▪ “Charter School” is code for legislated segregation.
▪ Less government regulation means less regulation of business, but more regulation of a resident’s private life.
▪ Lowering income taxes is easy: Just raise the sales tax on services and pass bond issues.
▪ The true definition of conservative is to conserve mine and the heck with those less fortunate.
I am truly grateful to have my eyes open to the agenda of so-called conservative politicians. They are certainly conservative: conserving their way of life by whatever means necessary.
