Laurel Olin: Apple protecting consumers
Regarding the Feb. 18 news article “Fight over gunman’s locked iPhone affects all users”: The FBI wants to hack into the phone of a dead terrorist. Easy solution: Have the White House issue a court order demanding Apple create a program solely for this one phone, so they say.
The FBI is demanding Apple use its time and resources, jeopardize proprietary technology patents, current and future products and 900 million users.
Kudos to Tim Cook, CEO of Apple, for protecting the company, the product and the consumer. Surely the government can figure out one silly phone! It can create weapons of mass destruction. How hard could it be?
