Tommy Brown: Hello, hypocrisy
Regarding the Feb. 16 editorial “A storm over the high court”: I knew it wouldn’t take you long to come out against the GOP’s stance regarding the next Supreme Court nominee. You refer to the GOP’s position as “insulting,” “disrespectful” and “absurd.”
You are probably hoping no one remembers that in 1960, a Democrat-controlled Senate passed a resolution, S.RES. 334, “Expressing the sense of the Senate that the president should not make recess appointments to the Supreme Court, except to prevent or end a breakdown in the administration of the Court’s business.” Of course, the GOP opposed this.
Hypocrisy goes both ways. And irony can be so ironic.
