John Pederson: Union protection

I read with interest your Feb. 12 news article “Duke adjunct faculty eye union.”

I served as an adjunct professor in the music department for 35 years. Without a word from Duke, I was replaced after asking the chair of the department for a $10 raise; a raise that would have put my pay in line with UNC-Chapel Hill and N.C. State.

I wish I still taught there, if for no other reason, to take part in this movement.
