Kirk McDuffie: Obama tried to hold up Supreme Court justice nomination

In response to the Feb. 24 editorial “GOP senators defy duty”: You quickly called Republican senators obstructionists for refusing to hold hearings on President Obama’s Supreme Court nominee.

You do note that a few Democrats in the past have held the exact same position after the Republicans have “scrubbed the record.” You completely failed to mention the two Democrats they found who took the exact same position as the Republicans are President Obama and Vice President Joe Biden. Both now state they were in error in their judgments on the topic.

So when the Republicans take that position, they are elevating destructive obstructions. But what about Sen. Harry Reid’s blocking of any hearings on any Republican proposed bills? Where was your outrage there? It was nonexistent because you support only liberal and Democratic beliefs.

I find it rich that a president who has sidestepped the Constitution his entire presidency now falls back on same and the Editorial Board just falls into line with no sense of providing counterpoints of view.

You print “The Old Reliable” statement from Josephus Daniels’ will every day, yet you clearly ignore his warning. Your hypocrisy knows no limits.
