Hugh Mensch: Preventing the spread of poverty

The Feb. 19 news article “Pope: In Zika crisis, women may choose contraception” reported that his holiness Pope Francis acknowledged that women could use artificial contraception to combat the plague of Zika.

Widely known as a champion for the poor, may he be granted the wisdom and courage to someday go a step further and change the course of church history by permitting the use of contraception to combat the plague of poverty.
