David Larson: Another voting hindrance

Regarding the March 5 news article “No easy answer to DMV’s voter registration questions”: I wish I could say I was surprised that the state DMV had added another layer to voter suppression in North Carolina, but I wasn’t.

There is no excuse for what happened to Bill Alford; no reasonable person could say that what he was confronted with was not extremely confusing. Just another attempt by the party in charge to disenfranchise voters. How can any party that tries to stymie voting call itself patriotic? Voting is the bedrock of our democracy.

I’d bet my back teeth more votes are prevented by this and other efforts to quell voting than fraudulent votes are allowed. What a sad state of affairs.
