David H. Bland: Legislature wrong about CCNC
Regarding the March 11 editorial “Community Care earns honors”: It’s ironic that a national organization honors Community Care of North Carolina with a $100,000 award for excellence, when our legislature passed legislation last year to “fire” it in preference to a private provider system.
Even though national research has shown the inadequacies of the private for-profit delivery system, our legislators would rather play a shade-tree mechanic.
CCNC is the first organization to receive the Hearst Health Prize, so doesn’t it make sense to urge the legislature to reverse this shortsighted decision?
