Deborah Goodwin: Don’t allow depression to win

I just finished reading Burgetta Wheeler’s poignant column on depression (“Thoughts from the ashes of depression,” March 11).

I’ve suffered from this disease all my life. Luckily I’ve been able to find therapists whom I can connect with and medication that works for me. It is still a fight.

She’s right that not many understand the depth of the low of the human spirit, the fight to get out of bed, go out in public, the urge to just end the pain.

I encourage Wheeler and others to never give up. One day it will all come together – the right doctor, the right meds.
