Brandie L. Davis: What Trump has sown
Regarding the March 11 news article “Trump backer charged with hitting man at rally”: After spewing nothing but divisive vitriol for months on end, Donald Trump now wishes to play the fool as violence erupts at rally after rally.
Trump refuses to saddle any of the blame for the vicious episodes and instead brushes them aside as acts of passion, claiming his supporters merely have a “strong love for their country.”
Yet the very motto of the United States, E Pluribus Unum (out of many, one), stands in stark contrast to Trump’s platforms, which foster hatred among the residents of our country based on their religion and race.
Trump supporters are fooling no one but themselves with their assertions of patriotism and loyalty to the vision of their forefathers’ vision for our country.
Anyone with eyes can see that Trump, and his adoring fans, are nothing but angry, bigoted zealots. The violent outbreaks are merely the physical manifestations of the pure unadulterated hatred that Trump has sown along the campaign trail.
