Dan DiPerna: Terror paranoia run amok

I totally back David Siegel’s March 27 Point of View “To thwart terror, don’t fear.” Please “lighten up.” This paranoia about the terrorism threat in the United States has gotten out of hand.

I offer the following based on “facts.” Since 9/11/01 there have been 45 deaths in this country attributed to Islamic terrorism. During the past 20 years the average number of deaths per year from lightning strikes is 51.

These statistics seem to indicate that being struck by lightning is about 20 times more likely then dying from terrorism!

So stop worrying about this terrorism threat and go about living our normal life.

I need to correct what president Obama said about ISIS being the JV team. Actually ISIS is more like a sandlot team and a weak one at that. But be sure to avoid those lightning strikes!
