State Rep. Paul Stam: Plenty of support for veterans

Regarding the March 31 Point of View “ ‘Discrimination, pure and simple’ ”: Montel Williams referred to me by name as a veteran who does not “understand the need” and “doesn’t care” about employment discrimination protections for military veterans.

North Carolina is the most “military friendly” state in the nation. Moreover, the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act of 1994 is a federal law that prohibits discrimination against veterans, permits option of administrative enforcement or civil action in federal or state court, has no statute of limitations and assigns burden of proof to employer to disprove discrimination.
