Neil Stahl: Sanders his own man

Regarding the March 22 news article “Candidates vie to impress AIPAC”: Let’s see what lessons can be learned from every candidate but Bernie Sanders appearing before the American Israeli Political Action Committee and reciting AIPAC’s party line.

Yes, even Donald Trump, who claims to be his own man, recited from a teleprompter to be sure he was not his own man but AIPAC’s.

The only candidate who didn’t appear there, the only candidate who spent the day supporting America’s interests, was Sanders, who gets some protection from being called anti-Semitic by being Jewish and who also has actually been his own man for decades.

What does this tell us about what those candidates will do for America when its interests aren’t Israel’s interests? And that happens a lot.
