Karen Hendrickson: HB2 brings out meanness

I am not reading all the opinions on House Bill 2. I am disillusioned at some of the mean-spiritedness on both sides.

I would like to ask the writer of the April 3 letter “LGBT lobby vindictive” if he thought Cardinal Robert Sarah’s comments square with Pope Francis’ Year of Mercy theme? I am a “cradle Catholic,” and I respect the writer’s fervor. I respect the cardinal’s office. But I cannot see Jesus saying those things.

And let me thank the writer of the April 10 letter “LGBT primer for legislators, governor” for his learned observations on the subject.

I agree that HB2 is “not necessary” and that the situation calls for respect, even in the face of disrespect.
