Bonnie Bleiweiss: Lunch helps learning

Regarding the April 25 Barry Saunders column “Hey, students, take time for lunch”: Thanks for writing this column. I was annoyed that any school would put so much pressure on kids as to promote such unhealthy behavior.

In my experience, when I was in the corporate world, skipping lunch led to diminished performance. The brain needs fuel to think. Down time allows the brain to develop creative and critical thinking. Down time allows kids to develop social skills.

We are instead creating the next generation of self-centered, overachievers who will crash and burn before they hit 40.
