Gina Kentopp: GOP goes out of bounds

Reading the May 5 news article “Feds: HB2 violates Civil Rights Act” at breakfast about the reaction from our GOP leaders to the U.S. Justice Department’s letter in regards to House Bill 2, I about spit out my coffee.

House Speaker Tim Moore called it a “huge overreach” and said “it looks an awful lot like politics to me.” Senate President Pro Tem Phil Berger called it a “gross overreach.” Lt. Gov. Dan Forest blasted the Obama administration for “using children and their educational futures as pawns to advance an agenda.”

If that’s not the pot calling the kettle black then I don’t know what is.

They greatly stepped over their bounds as governmental leaders on HB2. This whole bill was nothing but using the invented “safety of women and children,” in which there had been no incidents or complaints of, to further their political agendas. This is an example of hypocrisy at its finest.
