Lou Giglio: No raises for GA

Regarding the May 10 Under the Dome item “Lawmakers weigh raising reimbursements”: Cowardly Senate Leader Phil Berger and House Speaker Tim Moore have a lame-duck legislator recommend a whopping 86.5 percent increase in mileage allowance and an unbelievable 56.7 percent increase in their per diem.

To justify this outrage increase, they cite federal and IRS standards.

After they raise all public employees, police, fire, teachers to federal standards, then they can give themselves a raise. Current budget writers are negotiating a state budget increase between 2 percent and 3 percent.

Looks like state employees lose again while bumbling legislators fatten their wallets!
