Phil Henry: Overreaching irony

It occurred to me while reading the May 19 letter “No raises for GA” that the leadership in the General Assembly wants to quote federal and IRS standards when it comes to per diem increases; however, federal laws and standards are overreaching when it comes to civil rights in the state.

Don’t we all wish we could cherrypick only the laws and standards we agree with? At a time when we have an abysmal minimum wage, teacher flight and economic woes related to House Bill 2, the legislators want to increase their per diem. Is there no shame in the GA?
