Mike Webb: Lake a little late

Regarding the May 21 Point of View “A new view on death penalty”: Did I. Beverly Lake, a former chief justice of the North Carolina Supreme Court, not know about withheld exculpatory evidence by prosecutors? Assistant state attorneys general who botched murder cases after the local authorities had done the same? Tampered or “lost” evidence that would have been vital to the defense? Coerced confessions? Drunk defense attorneys? Politically “drunk” prosecutors?

The fact that an epiphany occurs after the political career ends is a revelation unto itself. In this case the evidence is clear. As for the verdict? We find the defendant, the judicial system, guilty!
