J.T. Finnegan: Sheriff must enforce all laws
Regarding the May 21 editorial “Wake sheriff isn’t the border patrol”: Sheriff Donnie Harrison and his deputies have sworn to enforce all the laws, immigration laws included, not just the laws deemed acceptable and “humane “ by The News & Observer Editorial Board.
Illegal entry into the United States is a crime. Sanctuary cities or areas violate federal law. By failing to enforce or being selective in law enforcement, Harrison would be compromising his oath of office.
The mission of all law enforcement agencies is to enforce all the laws. As for “immigration reform,” DonaldTrump’s wall would be a good start.
