Kerry A. Keenan: Pepper spray in schools outrageous

The May 12 news article “Bathroom fears cited in school pepper spray policy” should have been on the front page. This is absolutely unbelievable that students would be allowed to take pepper spray to school and use it (supposedly because “it may be a pretty valuable tool to have on the female students if they go to the bathroom, not knowing who may come in”).

Don’t people realize that these students could easily identify anyone as being in the wrong place at the wrong time and use that spray?

I am still in total shock that HB2 was even considered to be necessary at all, and I am completely embarrassed to live in this state. I hope to say goodbye to Gov. Pat McCrory and his cronies this November.
