Jane W. Wolff: Taking N.C. to the bottom

Regarding the May 24 news article “Charlotte backs off LGBT reversal”: Some of the Charlotte City Council members who opposed a repeal (deal) of House Bill 2 said, “It is Raleigh’s job to fix HB2 – not Charlotte’s job.”

The Republicans are tearing our state apart, and the entire country is seeing these legislators for what they really are, so let them continue to look like the power-hungry party that needs to be ousted.

It will take years for our state to recover from what Gov. Pat McCrory and his Republican legislators have done to drag us back into the past.

I wasn’t born in North Carolina but have lived here 46 years and have taken much pride and joy in the state’s growth and progress. Yes, it was a progressive state where all people wanted to live and work. How sad that so many no longer feel that way.
