Bill Irlbeck: Pastors not above God
A key part of being a Christian is to recognize that we were all created by God.
Being transgender is something that some people are born with. Given the pain and struggle it involves to come to terms with that reality, it is certainly not something that anyone would choose. In fact, almost half of transgender people attempt suicide in the process of coming to terms with who they are.
The rally held by about 40 pastors recently (“Black pastors reject HB2-Jim Crow parallels,” May 25 Under the Dome item) to support discrimination against transgender people was a clear statement that those pastors think they know better than God how people should be created. Could anything be less Christian than to set themselves above God?
