George Landberg: Political Dark Ages

Political Dark Ages

The June 5 Dwane Powell political cartoon was a classic example of a picture is worth a thousand words.

The lack of elementary scientific knowledge exhibited by our legislators and governor in devising ways to delay the activation of regulations to control nutrients flowing into Jordan Lake is beyond comprehension.

The depiction of an elephant as a mastodon described exactly where we are. Our elected representatives are throwbacks to the Dark Ages.

On this basis it is easy to see what will be the next set of laws passed. Our legislature and governor will pass a law that the earth is flat. In this way no water will flow into Jordan Lake from the surrounding land. Only rainfall from above the lake will replenish it. Problem solved!

Of course if there are some small hills around, they can issue some contracts to their friends the developers and contractors to level those hills. And of course this is an opportunity for well drillers to profit and provide a wider base for political contributions.

Please vote in November and return us from the Dark Ages.

George Landberg
