Linda Claire Ward: Americans first

In response to the June 14 letter “Saying the words”: I am disheartened by the writer’s attitude, his words and his view. His hearing is selective. Hillary Clinton and others did not immediately suggest that the cause of the Orlando massacre was only gun access. She simply pointed out that assault weapons do not belong in the hands of ordinary citizens, and I quite agree. And who cares what words someones uses to describe a deranged, home-grown terrorist – who, by the way, was born in New York?

Please spare us conservative agenda talking points. As a retired teacher who worked hard to instill compassion, objectivity and kindness in all of my students, I am appalled by his comments. Why does it always have to be conservatives vs. liberals or Republicans vs. Democrats? Can’t it just be “We are all Americans first”?
