Albert Kurz: The Trump way
I still haven’t recovered from the massacre at Sandy Hook. I haven’t recovered fully from the images of the parents of those children and wonder how they can possibly cope.
Years later, we have done nothing. As we wrestle with the pain of another deadly assault with weapons, I am certain that nothing will be done except for the rhetoric we’re now used to. I’m sick and tired of hearing that more gun control won’t solve the problem and that it’s the shooter we need to focus on. Enough already. We are a civilized society and lack of gun control has proven unsuccessful. Who’s going to suffer without an AR-15 assault rifle, a weapon developed for the U.S. Army?
Gun dealers are the only ones who lose out. This seems a small sacrifice to make.
To paraphrase Donald Trump’s Muslim rant, we have a dysfunctional gun access policy that does not permit us to protect our citizens. We have to do it (ban assault weapons). We have to address this issue head on. It (the ban) will be lifted when, as a nation, we’re in a position to properly and perfectly screen these people buying guns.
