Richard Delaney: Abortion not a laughing matter

I was deeply saddened and at the same time thoroughly disgusted to see the photograph on the front page of the June 28 edition of The N&O of two laughing and obviously jubilant women celebrating the repeal of the Texas abortion law (“Abortion clinic law in Texas overturned” news article).

There is nothing funny about abortion, which is the slaughter of the innocent. In most cases it is a willful and selfish act, and it tears at my heart to see such an indifferent attitude regarding the destruction of innocent and helpless lives.

Abortion, and all it represents, is a sad commentary on this totally self-centered and narcissistic world in which we now live.
