Ron Driver: Let neutral party draw election maps
Regarding the July 2 news article “Wake voting in flux; maps ruled illegal”: Seems we need a map-drawing class. First the legislative maps and now the local maps – what is going on with this?
Along with the bathroom bill, it now seems we have a very underachieving group of people. Both parties have had the same issues with this for years yet it is now time to take this seriously.
The public should demand that this task be taken away from the elected and given to an outside, independent group. This is not rocket science as they would have us think. There should be a commission appointed by a panel of judges who should be neutral. There should be no issues of this type simply because of partisan politics.
There is no worse form of corruption or collusion. For local races, they are supposed to be bipartisan or is that a lie also?
Time for leaders to start acting like so and put their actions in tune with their speeches. Where are the ethics in politics, or do they simply not have any? There is a reason most people are now changing to unaffiliated voters.
