Janie Wagstaff: Comey avoided fallout

Regarding Charles Krauthammer’s July 8 column “A theory on Comey’s move despite clear evidence of Clinton crime”: FBI Director James Comey was asked to investigate whether Hillary Clinton’s off-line private email server broke any laws.

All that is necessary to make a fair and impartial ruling on the evidence is to remember that Clinton is responsible for her actions. Comey is not responsible for any fallout. Whether it is his personal legacy, whether it is criticism of throwing the election by prosecuting a candidate or whether it is going down in history as the one who squelched the historic prospects of the first woman president.

None of that should be of any concern to Comey. Unfortunately, it looks like it was.

Janie Wagstaff
