Ann G. Mullin: Off-base about Obama

Regarding the July 17 news article “Delegate: ‘We need somebody to shake up Washington’ ”: Jim Hastings is a leading Donald Trump booster from North Carolina.

He supports Trump because, in his view, Washington is out of control, and he specifically cited his disgust with President Obama’s “rewriting the Constitution and governing by executive action.”

In fact, President Obama has issued fewer Executive Orders (about 230 with six months left in office) than President George Bush (291 Executive Orders) and President Bill Clinton (364 Executive Orders).

None of President Obama’s Executive Orders seeks to rewrite the Constitution; most are necessary administrative actions and other necessary tasks like ordering the lowering of the American flag to half staff.

Sadly, Hastings supports Trump because of erroneous information. Like Hastings, Trump has little regard for the facts, either.

Hastings should note that President Obama is not running for a third term. That would be unconstitutional.
