Deborah Johnson: Hog farm transparency

In the July 20 letter “Hog farm hype,” the writer said that if hog farms were transparent, they’d be offering tours to the public because they don’t have anything to hide.

We can’t offer mass public tours of hog farms because people might transmit diseases to our animals, but I’d like to invite the letter-writer to personally visit a North Carolina hog farm and see it for herself. She can reach me at the NC Pork Council at ncpork.org.
