Stephanie Jurney: Shore up gun control weak spots

Regarding the July 25 letter “Selective data” and the argument for gun reform to address terrorist killings: I submit that including the 3,000-plus deaths on 9/11 actually strengthened the argument.

I’m sure the writer recalls that airport security became much tighter following that attack and other attempts that followed in its wake. Our country saw the weak spots and worked to shore them up.

It’s time we apply this same common-sense approach to our gun laws.
