Jim Wheeler: Partisan double standard
Regarding the Aug. 3 news article “Voter ID will be defended without Cooper”: I find it very interesting to balance many people’s opinion that Attorney General Roy Cooper is doing the right thing in not appealing the recent ruling against North Carolinas voter ID law versus many people’s opinion that those who refuse to bake cakes for gay weddings or provide birth control to employees are doing the wrong thing.
Seems like both parties have strong feelings, backed by morals or religion, in not doing things that go against their beliefs.
Seems strange that the bakers’ and other’s actions are condemned, while Cooper’s actions are applauded.
