John Corbin: Clean water needs better protection
Regarding the Aug. 14 editorial “Water at risk due to weak legislation”: Clean drinking water is one of our most precious resources and should be a bipartisan issue.
Nobody benefits from polluted water, as the recent disaster in Michigan illustrated.
It is distressing to see what is happening to Falls Lake and Jordan Lake as unregulated development chips away at water purity. Once water is polluted, the costs of recovery will far exceed the cost of prevention, not to mention the human cost.
North Carolinians need to stand together and insist that our drinking water be strictly protected.
