Ron Driver: Working the system

Regarding J. Peder Zane’s Aug. 17 column “How has Clinton lied to us? Let me count the ways”: Finally, someone gets it that Hillary has be not telling the truth for many years. She has built her reputation on being vindictive and hateful. She has taken advantage of minorities only for votes and now the same for women. It is a shame that more of the media do not tell the story.

She has worked the system only to help herself and has never really helped the poor or minority just as the democratic party. One would think that after 50-plus years of failed policies for inner cities, the poor, blacks, that someone would realize they have been played and used for votes only.

It is time for a change, and she represents no change but rather more policies that shackle the poor and minorities to the government like pets. There is a reason inner cities are failing and that blacks are no better off or worse than 40 years ago. Block grants and welfare only benefit the local economy but not the individual. The poor are still poor, and the communities are crumbling. We need different thinking and different policies. The war on poverty has been lost.
