Anne Sherron: Woodhouse’s easy-to-read email
Regarding the Aug. 18 news article “ ‘Party line changes’ urged to limit early voting hours”: I find issue with all of Dallas Woodhouse’s email to the counties’ Board of Elections, but most disturbing is his paragraph denouncing Sunday voting.
If he were concerned about giving the fine election staff a day off, he would support early voting sites on the weekends at alternate sites while suggesting the Boards of Election offices be open during their work week for early voting.
Regarding two other reasons Woodhouse stated for no Sunday voting, protection of families and respect for voter’s religious preferences, is he saying voting on a Sunday is dangerous to families? Is there data to even support this? And what if someone’s religious preference were to choose to early vote on a Sunday?
It is very easy to read between the lines of Woodhouse’s email.
