Robert Idol: Unconvinced dim bulbs
In his Aug. 23 Point of View “The why of Democratic professors,” William Snider says, in essence, move along folks, there’s nothing to see at UNC just because Democratic faculty members happen to outnumber Republicans 12:1. No discrimination against Republican job candidates here!
He starts out strong, arguing that he’s never heard political affiliation mentioned in any job search, job posting or interview. He almost had me in the bag at that point, I have to admit, but the good doctor just couldn’t stop while he was ahead. Nope, he had to get in some licks about how those knuckle-dragging, dim-bulb Republicans don’t believe in evolution or global warming, can’t manage to engage in “rational discourse” and, worst of all, are “compromised by economic self-interest” relating to “profit from fossil fuels.” Hmm, why am I no longer convinced?
