Blake Price: Burr no champ

I keep getting a pop-up ad for Richard Burr that says he is North Carolina’s “Clean Energy Champion.” Let’s look at some facts. Burr is in favor of offshore drilling on our coast. Voted “yes” on barring EPA from regulating green house gases. Voted “no” on tax incentives for clean energy production and conservation. Voted “no” on removing oil and gas exploration subsidies. Voted “no” on factoring global warming into federal project planning. Voted “no” on banning drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. Voted “no” on reducing oil usage by 40 percent by 2025. Voted “no” on raising fuel-efficiency standards for cars and light trucks and giving incentives for alternate fuels. Voted “no” on implementing the Kyoto Protocol.

This isn’t the record of a clean energy champion. This is the record of the loser.
