Robert Hauver: Language barrier

Regarding the Aug. 30 news article “Teen Wildin Acosta describes 6 months in federal detention”: I watched Wildin Acosta’s interview on TV and was amazed that he wasn’t speaking English and required an interpreter. I thought he was about to graduate from a local high school. If this is the type of education he received, then we are all in trouble. How in the world does he graduate from high school without speaking fluent English?

I’m happy for his freedom, but surely he needs to work on his English to succeed.

Robert Hauver
