N.C. State’s basketball recruiting class for the 2018-19 season got another boost on Friday.
Just hours before “Primetime with the Pack,” small forward Jericole Hellems committed to play for coach Kevin Keatts next season.
Hellems, a 6-6, 190-pound wing, is a four-star recruit from St. Louis and ranked No. 115 in the class, according to the 247Sports composite rankings.
Hellems joins power forward Ian Steere (6-9, 230), who committed earlier in October, and forward Immanuel Bates (6-9, 195), who committed in September.
Keatts had already added transfer guards C.J. Bryce (from UNC-Wilmington), Devon Daniels (Utah) and Braxton Beverly (Ohio State) to help restock the roster for the 2018-19 season.
Bates, ranked No. 97, and Steere, No. 105, add some much-needed size to the roster. Forwards Abdul-Malik Abu and Lennard Freeman are seniors on this year’s team.
Hellems adds another long body on the wing who could fit into the kind of “small ball” lineup Keatts preferred at UNCW.
South Carolina, Arkansas, Florida, Virginia Tech and Georgia Tech also recruited Hellems, who made his decision on Twitter on Friday afternoon.
