NC State’s Bradley Chubb is drafted by the Denver Broncos
Former North Carolina cornerback Mike Hughes was selected with pick No. 30 by the Minnesota Vikings at the 2018 NFL Draft. Hughes played one season at UNC in 2015, leaving school for personal reasons. He transferred to Garden City Community College, before ending his college career at UCF, leading the Knights to an undefeated season.
History made on draft night
For the first time in the modern draft era four quarterbacks were taken in the first 10 picks. Baker Mayfield went first to the Cleveland Browns, Sam Darnold went to the New York Jets at No. 3, Josh Allen went to the Bills at No. 7, and Josh Rosen went No. 10 to the Cardinals. Overall, five quarterbacks were taken in the first round. Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson was taken by the Ravens at No. 31.
Chubb headed to Denver
N.C. State defensive end Bradley Chubb was selected by the Denver Broncos with the No. 5 pick of the 2018 NFL Draft. Chubb left Raleigh as the all-time sack leader in school history as well as the all-time leader in tackles for loss. Chubb is just the third N.C. State player in the modern draft era to be taken in the top five.
Miller happy with selection of Chubb
Current Denver Broncos pass rusher Von Miller was very happy with his new teammate. The Broncos posted a video of Miller's reaction to the selection of Chubb. Miller held his camera towards the television and when Chubb's name was called, Miller started yelling and celebrating.
Baker Mayfield goes to Cleveland
Former Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield was the No. 1 draft pick of the Cleveland Browns at the 2018 NFL Draft.
Mayfield started his career at Texas Tech before transferring to Oklahoma. He also won the 2018 Heisman Trophy.
