Top target Cole Anthony and UNC commit Armando Bacot took official visits last weekend
Both North Carolina basketball commit Armando Bacot and top recruiting target Cole Anthony took official visits to North Carolina this weekend. The two were seen at the Dean Smith Center for The Charlotte Hornets and Boston Celtics preseason game Friday.
Anthony, a 6-3, 184-pound combo guard who will play for Oak Hill this season, is ranked the No. 3 recruit in the Class of 2019, according to 247sports’ Composite Rankings. Anthony is the son of former NBA player Greg Anthony. His top five schools include UNC, Duke, Georgetown, Kansas and Notre Dame.
Anthony averaged 26.2 points per game, 8.4 rebounds and 4.8 assists in five games at the Nike Peach Jam in July. He was also the EYBL circuit MVP.
Bacot, a 6-10, 240-pound five-star center, is the No. 19 ranked recruit in the Class of 2019, according to 247Sports’ composite rankings. He committed to UNC in August. Bacot, who attends IMG Academy in Florida, helped lead Team Takeover (Washington DC) to the Peach Jam title and averaged 11 points per game and 12.8 rebounds during the event.
Anthony has not said when he will announce his decision. But if he chooses UNC, the Tar Heels will have secured at least two five-star recruits for the second consecutive year. Last year, they signed five-star recruits Nassir Little and Coby White. Prior to that, UNC hadn’t had two five-star recruits commit to the program since 2014 when Theo Pinson and Justin Jackson signed.
