J.R. Walker, a four-star recruit who’s played quarterback, wide receiver and running back at Clayton High, has committed to Virginia Tech.
Walker, who transferred to Clayton after playing his first three years at Elizabeth City Northeastern, is the No. 13 player in North Carolina, according to 247Sports, and the No. 17 athlete in the nation.
The 6-0, 205-pound senior has rushed for 2,695 yards in his career and has 11 career interceptions. Through seven games with the Comets, Walker, who started at quarterback on Oct. 5, has collected 194 all-purpose yards and 22 tackles.
Walker announced his decision Friday at Clayton High.
