Franklinton’s big rally turns back Fike 37-36

Because of Tropical Storm Michael and the closure of many high schools in Wake and Durham counties, the postponements were many and the football schedule light Friday.

Franklinton 37, Wilson Fike 36

In what have been the most exciting game of the night, Franklinton trailed 36-8 midway through in the third quarter before completely reversing the game’s momentum to score 29 unanswered points in the 3A Big East Conference game in Wilson.

Franklinton scored the winning points on an 89-yard pass from quarterback Kenneth Cornell to Laye’shon Parker, the Wilson Times reported.

Franklinton improved to 6-2 overall and 1-1 in the conference. The loss dropped the Golden Demons to 2-5 and 0-2.

South Johnston 49, West Johnston 0

Getting three touchdowns from Jaequan Wells, South Johnson rolled to an easy win, rebounding from its loss to Clayton in the 3A Greater Neuse Conference.

South Johnston improved to 5-2 overall and 1-1 in the conference.

Trinity Christian 55, Ravenscroft 0

Trinity Christian of Fayetteville built a 42-0 first-quarter lead in beating Ravenscroft.
