Korn Ferry Tour pro golf stop in Raleigh to remain UNC Health Championship
The Korn Ferry Tour’s golf stop in Raleigh will remain the UNC Health Championship through 2027.
UNC Health announced this week it was extending its contract with the tour and will continue as the title sponsor in the event, which attracted more than 10,000 spectators a year ago over the four-day run at Raleigh Country Club.
This year’s tournament, which has STITCH Golf as its presenting sponsor, is set to run May 29 through June 1 at Raleigh CC.
The tournament, originally was known as the Rex Hospital Open, was played at The Country Club at Wakefield Plantation until the name change and the move to Raleigh Country Club in 2023.
Proceeds from this year’s event will support development of North Carolina Children’s hospital. UNC Health will partner with Duke Health on the project., which is expected to be completed in the 2030s.
Kaito Onishi of Japan won last year’s tournament, which honored the late Grayson Murray of Raleigh on the final day.
There was an honorary tee time for Murray, a former PGA Tour and Korn Ferry Tour winner who died May 25, 2024, at age 30. There also was the unofficial launch of the Grayson Murray Foundation to help raise awareness of mental health and addiction challenges and to fund research.
